Ferrari為客戶專屬打造的One-off造車項目已經持續十年之久了！在這項目之中不僅能擁有心目中的理想車，更能參與設計的過程。而在客戶的非常具體的投入之下，與法拉利設計中心高級副總裁Flavio Manzoni，以及工程和空氣動力學團隊一同合作之下，創造了Ferrari P80/C。該名客戶是Ferrari相當有份量的鑒賞家，來自一個長期對Ferrari有極致愛好的家族，並且是一位知識淵博、要求甚嚴的法拉利收藏家。

Ferrari P80 / C的設計靈感來自Ferrari歷史上標誌性的經典車款：330 P3/P4以及1966年Dino 206 S的兩相融合。這是目前的Ferrari系列中不存在的新型產品，除了透過由凹凸面交叉形成的更加肌肉的車身線條與尾翼，重建出最具標誌性的感性形狀之外，也對過去沒有做出任何重大讓步。

P80 / C項目於2015年啟動，是迄今為止Ferrari One-off終極客製化項目歷經最長開發時間的一部車。這個高度緊張的醞釀期經歷了深入的造型研究和漫長的工程開發，並且是對性能參數的細緻分析，以及嚴格的空氣動力學測試的結果，所有這些都採用了與Ferrari過去的一次性獨有車款不同的方法打造。

通常，Ferrari One-off終極客製化車款往往是對當前一般市售內的車型，所進行的風格重新詮釋，可以是一種新概念或新基本理念的衍生。然而，P80 / C完全不同！也就是非以現行車款為基礎，是一部無中生有的車型。

P80 / C是一輛賽道專用的跑車，因為其更長的軸距(比488 GTB增加了50 mm)，從而實現了更多的創作自由。相比之下，也能駕駛艙更傾向於放置在車體中央，如此的底盤基礎允許設計師更多強調向前衝刺的駕馭感效果，並讓車體後部更為細長，從而使車輛更具侵略性、緊湊的特性。從設計過程的早期階段草圖開始，這就是P80 / C造型風格的基石之一。

決定性的楔形支撐著汽車前部的側視圖。大而富有肌肉感的前後下擾流與尾翼，配上非常圓潤厚實的前後輪拱，而特別的地方還有車側沿著車窗下緣的腰線後端還有分流的設計，將氣導入進氣口，並且還將C柱形成獨特的飛拱式造型，也就外部所見的C柱是與車廂分離的。而另一個造型設計上的細節：透過環繞式擋風玻璃進一步突顯駕駛艙與車身完全融合的視覺效果，這些設計不僅參考了330 P3 / P4，還參考了Dino和250 LM berlinettas。

空氣力學的設計是基於488 GT3賽車所獲得的經驗，但不受賽事法規的限制。設計宗旨是在兩個車軸上均勻地平衡上部車身的下壓力，而充分利用了488 GT3的車身底部。而前分離器是獨有的，雖然後擴散器的擴展曲線和渦流發生器與GT3賽車上使用的相同，但表面特殊材質是P80 / C所獨有的。其結果是整體效率提高了約5%。

後車身的結構有特殊空氣力學「T翼」設計，其位於車頂後緣的後方，以提供向後氣流的強烈再壓縮，而增強尾翼產生下壓力的效果。這種空氣力學輪廓的靈感其實是來自2017年F1賽車中所採用的T翼，這個設計還可以減少後部氣流流動的長度，而能產生非常短的「虛擬」後擋風玻璃，並且產生出如同雙泡式車頂相同的空力效果。而凹形後擋風玻璃和引擎蓋上鋁製百葉通風孔，也是參考了330 P3 / P4，使P80 / C的尾部具有識別性和獨特的外觀。

P80 / C僅用於賽道使用的事實意味著它可以沒有在公路車中被認為至關重要的部件，其中公路車絕對會的頭燈看起來消失了。或者更確切地說，它們已被縮小藏於車頭前部的壁龕中的狹縫裡，這讓人想起330 P3 / P4格柵中的進氣口外殼。然而，不同於330，在P80 / C中，所述外殼沒有設置成「微笑」的橢圓形格柵，看起來更像是雕刻出來的兩個口袋。而尾燈也是相同的設計，使其看起來像是通風口，從而完美地反映了前部的設計。
